Riley’s Farm Reflection
I was so happy when I arrived at Riley’s Farm because when I got there I thought there was going to be animals but when we arrived there I learned a lot of stuff I didn’t know and today I am going to tell you. The first thing we did was talk about the “Shinnies” and they were like money. And when we get to we will be entered in a contest from the bakery. And it was crazy because I got 4 or 5 and I won when we were about to go on the bus. That was my favorite part in the beginning of the field trip. And in the first station I didn’t get any shinnies but probably in the third one I did. But let me tell you the other stuff. The second station we went to was the “Flax Weaving” and it was really cool because we had to go through strings with a stick and then we put the colored string through the opening where the stick was and that stick helps us make a hole to put the colored string in there. After you put the colored string in there you tight in it by pushing the stick down where it is and you keep on doing that and when you think that you are do you can tie it and cut it out I think. I thought that was really interesting because I didn’t you can weave like that. The third station we went to was the part where we were making the dough. In that barn I guess we were writing in a feather and ink and it felt really real and not fake because we were actually there and it’s real anyway we were making butter and twisting the stick into the bucket. And she needed to make 144 biscuits and some kids helped her make biscuits. The fourth station we learned about good manners and when somebody would say “How are you?” the other say “Fairy well Thank You” and that is good manners on to my favorite parts of the trip were when we got to use the stick to make fake guns and to march and when we were court and that was the best part. Now that I’m good that's all I learned from my trip and I think that this is my best trip ever. I had a blast. Thank 5th grade teachers.
